Beginning in 1985, APL established as the only leading independent pharma-distributor for two multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers. Our first warehouse, "Gedung Biru", was located in Pulogadung, Jakarta. The term "Gedung Biru" represents our spirit and dedication to distributing health products in Indonesia.
Our focus on innovation has resulted in our business growing to become a US$1.1 billion business, with more than 50 clients from world-class global pharmaceutical companies, serving up to 60,000 customers across Indonesia.
In 1985, Dr. Willem B. Wanandi completed his studies in Zurich, Switzerland, and returned to Indonesia to realize his dream to provide healthcare access to Indonesians.
In 1999 APL was recognized as the leading & independent pharmaceutical distribution company in Indonesia and became the benchmark for other national distributors.
In 2001, APL transformed its digital solutions for clients and customers with the adoption of SAP, and the launch of the Executive Information System (EIS) and Advanced Call Center System. The sales reporting engine enables us to provide hourly sales and inventory updates through a web portal, and SMS notifications on mobile. The EIS system also enables our clients to access their past transactions and inventory data from wherever they are.
In 2005, APL became a Joint Venture Company with Zuellig Pharma Group as the largest healthcare services group in Asia.
In 2018, APL created a new division - Commercial Solutions (now known as ZP Therapeutics) through the acquisition of PT Metro Drug Indonesia and APL Pharmalink. In the same year, it collaborated with global IT company IBM on data and technology innovations.
In 2019, APL reinforced its commitment to the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia through its largest exhibition to-date in line with the theme of Healthcare 4.0 to showcase its digital capabilities.
In 2020, APL built a new National Distribution Centre in Cikarang, West Java. Spanning an area of 39,930 square metres, the center is Indonesia's first and largest world-class pharma distribution centre.
